ReplyDeleteHmmmmm...the only thing I can think of is:
ReplyDelete"The hog is loose--who's gonna go get it?"
It was common knowledge that the Kemp's Ford SchoolHouse of Entertainment was the only one that required clients to pass a reading test. Aging schoolmarms of less-than-sterling character found a home and a source of income here, providing S&M recitations from McGuffey's readers (complete with switch) for customers. For a brief period, the ladies also experimented with lap dance services, but found it near-impossible to perform on narrow backless wooden benches.
ReplyDeleteWith a family photo this respectable, the revenuers will NEVER suspect that we have a still up behind the house!
ReplyDeleteThe fillings dropped out of my teeth when I saw that photo.
ReplyDeleteOnly known photograph of the infamous "Wiesel Gang". This bunch of ner-do-wells were led by Billy "Smiley" Wiesel, pictured here in top hat. His nickname was a misnomer as he was known never to engage in jocularity or hilarity.
Actually, "Smiley" Wiesel was known far and wide for his abiding sense of humor, hijinks, and generosity--before arriving at this locale. This group would never see that, however, as they seemed forever engaged in the defense of their respective sand boxes. One day, Smiley just up and disappeared, and was heard singing, "ain't no cure for the summertime blues." Apparently, this was part of a private joke that he'd ocassionally tell to the grandkids, much to their amusement. After all, he was known far and wide for his abidubg sense of humor...
DeleteAnd....here we have the Burnette family modeling the latest in proper apparel.

ReplyDeleteIsn't that the north side of the schoolhouse?!? I honestly thought it was a picture of the Explore Park staff! I'll let you decide who is who, but I see a few familiar faces in there....
