I don't recall ever having had cornbread for supper. In our household, it was for breakfast or sometimes dinner. Mother crumbled hers up into milk as did Brother. I had mine with butter (oleo).I don't recall Dad ever eating cornbread even though he grew up in that culture.<br /><br />Biscuits were another matter. I liked cornbread but preferred biscuits. Both parents could make a whale of a biscuit. Sometimes, biscuits were the breakfast. Not biscuits and bacon or biscuits and sausage just biscuits. Not because we were poor but because the biscuits were that good. Brother could wipe out a whole pan of biscuits by himself.
